How does KuduDoc work?
The short version.

KuduDoc lets you sign, seal and store documents online. Everyone signs from a link on their own device. The finished PDF is sealed with a SHA-256 fingerprint, a certification signature and a timestamp anchor, then filed in your Library beside the papers that explain it, with a reminder before its date. Anyone can check a copy later, free.

Some documents still need ink.

KuduDoc checks each document before it is sent and won’t send one it recognises as a will, a sale or other alienation of land, a lease of land over 20 years, or a bill of exchange or cheque — sign those in ink; you can still seal the scan. A suretyship needs an advanced electronic signature, which KuduDoc does not offer. For notarial deeds and antenuptial contracts, KuduDoc points you to a notary.

Questions about how KuduDoc works

Compare plans →

No. Signing is one step. KuduDoc also seals the finished file, keeps it with the papers around it, reminds you before it lapses, answers questions from it and shares a copy when someone asks.

Yes, for ordinary documents. KuduDoc signatures are ordinary electronic signatures, recognised under the ECT Act (s13(2)).

Yes. Personal is free: 5 GB of storage, 5 sends a month and up to 3 signers per document, with sealing and the Vault. It needs no card and has no expiry date. Templates and bulk send come with the paid plans. Ask comes with every plan, with 5 AI credits a month on Personal.

The Library holds your ordinary documents in collections, where you can search, share and ask them. The Vault is a separate space, encrypted on your device with its own passphrase, for the records only you should open. Ask and emergency access never reach it.

Not by default. Everyone in a Family household keeps their own account and records, and paying for a seat doesn’t open anyone else’s. For the day you can’t answer, you can choose one or more trusted people for emergency access. They ask from their own account; you’re told, and you can cancel any request or block someone who keeps asking. You set the rules — for an elderly parent, say, two or three siblings must all ask before anything opens — and the waiting time, such as a day, after which access opens if you haven’t cancelled. It covers ordinary documents only; the Vault is never included.

Share it with one named person, for one purpose, until a date you choose. In KuduDoc you share a copy with the recipient’s KuduDoc account, view-only or with download, and withdraw access when the handover is done. View-only can still be photographed, and withdrawing can’t recall a downloaded copy, so choose view-only where you can.

Yes. Put the date on the record, or confirm the date KuduDoc suggests from the document, and reminders go by email 90, 60, 30 and 7 days before, by default — or the days you choose. Reminders work on every plan, Personal included.

Whether the file in your hands has the same bytes as the file that was sealed: unchanged since sealing, or not. It doesn’t tell you whether what the document says is true. Adobe Acrobat shows the file as certified by KuduDoc; the free checker compares the file itself with the sealing record.

Personal is free, with no card and no expiry date. Family is R99 a month (R948 a year), Professional R199 (R1,990) and Business R299 (R2,868), per occupied seat, with a 14-day trial. Documents you have already sent are not affected by a plan change. Enterprise is contact-only.
